J.D. Trebmal

Hi,

I’m Jean Lambert and I’m an avid writer and reader. I’m not your typical editor. I don’t have an English degree and you really don’t want to rely on me to fix all your comma mistakes or tell you where that pesky semi colon should be used. I have no idea. What I do have is a lot of experience in writing fiction and poetry. I also have a degree in Fishery Sciences from the University of Washington where I wrote many technical or scientific papers on…you guessed it—fish! While my professors found my analytical skills weak, they did comment that my papers were the most enjoyable and easy to read (once I learned how to use spell check, of course).

Since then I have studied the craft of writing and editing on my own, learning from the best in the business and honing my skills by writing and editing for myself and others. I have a deep understanding of story structure, character development, pacing, and all the other elements that make a story work. I also have a keen eye for detail and a knack for finding the little things that can make a big difference in a story.

I’ve been a beta reader and editor for five years now and I’ve been critiquing and parsing out the problems in other writers’ work for fifteen years. I’ve found the only thing I love to do as much as writing my own stories is guiding another’s struggling story out of the fog and into the light.

As for my writing: You can find my short stories in anthologies sold on Amazon. If you’d like to check out what I’ve done and what I’ve got cooking, here’s my author website: jdtrebmal.com. I also have two other short stories under my true name, Jean Lambert, in American Night Writer Association Anthologies. I participate in the 30-day challenge to write a poem every day in April for National Poetry Month, so I hope to compile and publish a book of my poems someday. And I’m working on a rom-com series that I’ll be indie-publishing under another pseudonym so keep an eye out for that in the coming year.
